What Is AI Karaoke?
AI karaoke uses a voice model to sing a song for you — or with you — instead of scoring a live performance. Here is the term, and how VibeSing is (and is not) karaoke.
The short version
AI karaoke is any system that lets you hear a song with an AI voice in the lead — your cloned voice, a generic singer, or (on some other apps) a famous one — instead of, or on top of, you singing live into a mic. Traditional karaoke gives you a backing track and a score. AI karaoke gives you a performance, generated from a model.
People use the phrase loosely. Search results mix three different products: scoring apps with a pitch meter, text-to-song toys, and voice-conversion covers that replace the original vocal with a trained voice. Only the third one is what VibeSing does.
Karaoke vs. an AI cover
Classic karaoke (a bar machine, Smule, StarMaker) is a you, now activity. You sing. Friends listen. The machine may grade you. The output is the night, not a file you send next week.
An AI cover song is a file: stem separation pulls the original vocal, voice conversion paints your timbre onto that melody, the instrumental comes back. Nobody has to perform the chorus in real time. That is why people who freeze at karaoke still get a clip. You do not need to know how to sing.
If you wanted a live pitch meter, VibeSing will disappoint you. There is no scoring, no lyric-follow cursor, no "AI karaoke mode." There is also no text-to-song box that writes a new karaoke track from a prompt.
What "AI karaoke" usually hides
Celebrity models. A lot of viral "AI karaoke" is "sound like this artist." That is a different, legally hotter category. VibeSing will not give you a Billie Eilish or BTS preset. Clone only your own voice.
Generic singers. Some tools ship a stock vocal so you never record. Convenient. Also not your voice on the share page.
Realtime voice changers. Those pitch-shift what you are singing right now. They do not train a model. Fun on a stream; not a cover of Ditto you can send tomorrow.
How VibeSing uses the idea (without calling it karaoke)
You open Studio, read three short English prompts, pick a demo or upload a song you have rights to, and Generate. The pipeline is cover generation, not a karaoke session:
- The track is separated so vocals and instrumental are not one lump. See stem separation and vocal isolation.
- A voice model trained on your samples sings the isolated melody.
- You get a share page. Friends remake it in their voices. That is the group karaoke energy without a shared booth.
Free: 100 credits a month (~10 songs), one lifetime training. Train 10, clip 10. Enough to try the "what would I sound like on this" question without renting a room.
If you still want the bar, go to the bar. Use VibeSing for the clip you wish you had sung — Espresso, Levitating, whatever is actually stuck in your head — and for the link you can drop when nobody is holding a mic.
Open Studio. Speak the prompts. Skip the scoreboard.
