Can I Use AI Covers Commercially?
A personal VibeSing clip is for sharing, not a sync license. Selling, streaming-as-original, or ad monetization usually needs rights you do not get from generating a cover.
Generating a cover is not the same as clearing it
VibeSing gives you a clip in your voice. It does not give you the publishing, the master, or a sync license for the song you covered. If the track is Cruel Summer, Taylor's rightsholders still own the song. Your voice on top of it is a cover performance, not a new original you can wholesale.
For personal use — group chat, a birthday, a public fan post — see is it legal to post AI covers. This page is about money.
What "commercial" usually includes
- Selling the audio (Bandcamp, a beat store, a commissioned birthday song you invoice for)
- Distributing it as a streaming original (Spotify, Apple Music)
- Using it in a paid ad or branded campaign
- Monetizing a YouTube upload of a copyrighted chart song and expecting to keep the money
Any of those can require mechanical licenses, master licenses, platform deals, or a simple "you may not." AI does not skip that paperwork. What is music cover copyright is the explainer; a music lawyer is the decision.
What is usually fine on VibeSing's side of the deal
Using the clip as a personal share, a non-monetized social post, or a private gift, with the AI-cover disclosure left intact, matches how the product is designed. Do not strip the mark to impersonate a release. Do not clone a voice that is not yours to fulfill a client brief.
If you are an independent artist covering your own unreleased demo, that is a different fact pattern — you likely already control the composition. Still do not upload a file you do not control.
Practical rule
If you would not commercially release a garage-band cover of the same song without asking anyone, do not commercially release the AI version either. The tool changed the singing. It did not change the song.
Open the studio for the personal clip. Talk to a lawyer before you put a price tag on it.
